Daily report from Latakia on Tuesday 18/10/2011
Activists hanged banners calling upon the army to line up with the
people two days ago in Al-Raml Al-Janoobi, and the next day members of
the security ripped those banners and insulted those who hung them.
Many arrests took place, as Abdulla Saida who's a shop owner got
arrested yesterday in Mashrou' Al-Slaybeh. Usama Najjar was also
arrested in Oweineh after smashing his house, and so was Palestinian
Mahmoud Shatta; a bother to former detainees who got released.
Two 12 year-old kids were arrested yesterday for throwing stones from
their balcony on regime thugs, and were released two hours later.
We received the names of some of the detainees in Oweineh:
- Omar Sqati.
- Mhammad Qerbali.
- Taj Faroosi.
- Mhammad Aslan.
- Omar Al-Ak.
- Mhammad Sabe'.
- Mazen Halima.
- Ala' Susi.
Whereas Badr and Ala' and Bassam Khweled got released after 37 days of arrest.
Also Palestinian Ayman Senji nick-named Abu Farooq was released the day before yesterday.
And news are that Palestinian pharmacist Taisir Naser who was
arrested during the assault on Al-Raml in Ramadan for helping wounded
people will be released after all.
A huge explosion was heard in Slaybeh, and it was a sound bomb thrown by security thugs to terrorize people in the area.
And in separate news 9 ambulance cars took army wounded member to the National Hospital in Latakia.
We also mention that SyriaTel, one of two communication companies
controlled by Rami Makhloof, censored the word "school" in sms, so that
if you tried to send a text containing that word it simply won't. Other
words such as; demonstration and protest are also censored to avoid
people from organizing themselves into any gatherings since text
messages are not monitored.
