Daily
report from Latakia on Wednesday 02/05/2012
There were a
lot of security and army movements today; 3 security and army cars full of
members were seen on Latakia-Aleppo highway, and also 3 BMB tanks and 4 army
cars were seen taking the same road heading to Bdama village; shootings took
place as they moved.
Later Bdama
village was being shelled; we could not estimate the damage so far, but bombing
noises were heard in Kurds Mountains.
Few members
defected today in Al-Cornish Al-Janoobi Camp, and that was accompanied with
gunfire exchanged between the defectors and Assad forces.
Gunfire was
also heard today in Mashrou’ Al-Slaybeh and Yemen round-about for unknown
reasons.
27 year-old
policeman Zaher Abu-Khalil from Latakia passed away yesterday after being shot
by Assad forces in Daraa for refusing orders to shoot at civilians and
attempting to defect.
Security was
heavy in Souq Al-Jouma, and it was also heavy near Marine Force building on
Thawra highway which led to heavy traffic.
Three of
Assad gangs’ cars roamed Mashrou’ Al-Slaybeh near Shukri Hakim School, and in
Houriah Square security spread with 7 of their armed cars.
Our sources
spotted a white and red gangs’ car roaming back and forth near Shukri Hakim and
Nursing Schools with 5 members inside. More surrounded Suleiman Hambo School
which saw a lot protests lately as a silver Jeep with 9 armed members inside;
they romed round the school nearly 5 times every 3 minutes.
Last night a
demo took place in Sijn area, and before that an explosion and gunfire were
heard near the Municipality Building.
A rumor has
been circulating lately encouraging rebels to join the FSA [Free Syrian Army];
applicants were asked for their IDs. We confirm that it’s not true and just a
way for Assad gangs to claim rebels.
Below are
videos of the day.
