Random arrests, kidnapping, imprisoning, and torturing are common
features in all dictatorships to eliminate any voice calling for freedom
or speaking of the truth, these acts are being committed to undermine activists, control protests, restore fear, and even punish people.
Assad's regime is no different from all other totalitarian regimes... or
so you think! It might or might not present a shock to you but regime
has been reported for more than two weeks now kidnap people off of the
streets for no apparent reasons, and then they would ask their loved one
to provide a ransom for their release!
So, people are now being taken away randomly from streets, for example
last Friday security thugs arrested people for watching a protest from
their shop; not only they weren't a part of the protest but also didn't
any interest in doing anything but watching. They're easier to arrest
and will do the job of getting the ransom...!
And to give this outrageous act a legitimate cover the regime issued a
low prohibiting people from gathering in any number in any public place,
and yes this is the 21st century ladies and gentlemen! The law says:
"All gatherings on public roads and in public places are to be construed
as riots, and therefore subject to punishment in the form of one month
to one year in prison and fifty thousand Syrian Pounds as a fine".
Painful as it is, it does indicate the beginning of the falling apart of
the regime's financial power, and confirms all the rumors that have
been circulating about its inability to pay for its gangs.
In other news, security created a blockade near "6th of October" school,
and declared that they will search and arrest women since, according to
them, forty women are already wanted.
Heavy security presence was a feature in Yafa neighborhood in Al-Raml,
and residents were told to remain inside as it seems like an undeclared
curfew.
The daily report form Latakia on Tuesday 06/09/2011:
Zakoor Haskiro is reported to have been arrested by first deputy in army intelligence Yahya Bashir.Arrests took place in Slaybeh as well, where Ayman al-Haji [33 years old] got detained today.
Security forces also brought weapons to an old house that belonged once
to Al-Asfoori family to claim on state TV that these weapons belonged to
"armed gangs".
