Daily report from Latakia on Friday [The National Council Represents Me] 07/10/2011:
A night demonstration took place in the neighborhood of Qnainas in support of the National Council and in protest to the assassination of Syrian Kurdish opposition figure Mishaal Tammo, met with great numbers of government thugs, and raids which resulted in clashing with residents and arresting Khaled Mhammad Zarteet. Other protesting attempts during the day failed due to being suppressed by security, as many mosques were surrounded, such as BeirQdar mosque which was surrounded by 7 security cars, and Hourieh mosque with 5 cars, as well as 13 security cars and 11 other cars which came for support. The same thing occurred in Slaybeh area as 10 cars were noticed roaming around the place. And armed security members dressed as civilians were seen near Gharib mosque awaiting people getting out after prayers.
In the same stream, heavy security presence was seen in Masbah Al-Shaab area as, Omar Bin Al-Khattab mosque was surrounded by many security cars and members who existed in the area.
Another heavy presence of security was a feature near all mosques in Slaybeh area, as well as at least 13 cars in Mashrou' Al-Awqaf. And also around Abi Al-Darda' mosque with more than 25 cars roaming the area and arresting Khaled and Mahmood Batteekha from Bustan Al-Sidawi for the second time.
19 year-old soldier Nadeem Androon's funeral took place today after being delivered dead and fully in blood by security earlier on in Mashrou' Al-Slaybeh.
In Jableh:
A demonstration took place in Al-Imara neighborhood coming out of Al-Rahman mosque calling for the downfall of the regime and the support for the National Council, and was dispersed by security later on.
Al-Iman mosque in Al-Izzi area was surrounded by security cars to prevent any protests from shaping up, which was a sample of what was going on across the whole city.
