Daily report from
Latakia on Wednesday 18/01/2012
With reference to what
had already been mentioned yesterday, Shaikh Hasan Sari met with members of the Arab
delegation upon their request in his own place, and they were: Colonel &
observer Akram Muhammad Husien from Sudan, observer Khaled Muhammad from UAE,
and observer Muhammad Khalifah from UAE. The meeting lasted for two hours and
was a closed one upon Shaikh Sari’s request with no officials and no media, and
when we asked Shaikh Sari about the content discussed, he said he’d mentioned
four important things: Stopping violence against protesters, pulling the army
and all armed forces, releasing detainees, and free press.
In Al-Raml Al-Janoobi,
and despite heavy security, citizens managed the delegation members visiting
the place along with a chancellor and police and army members. They managed to
mention some of suffering, to show the observers bombs and gunshots on
buildings, and to hand them a list of martyrs and detainees.
The delegation was
able to meet some of the detainees’ parents as they were able to penetrate
though, and they talked about the horrific conditions their loved ones are
subjected to.
We must also mention
that the chancellor, who accompanied the delegation, was responsible for
killing many in Shaikh Daher Square when it all started. He was a colonel and
was then promoted to chancellor, as one citizen made sure to tell that to the
observers in his presence with no response from him.
This, however, was not
what happened when the delegation visited Slaybeh, where the regime used loud
speakers making noises in a naïve attempt to disturb the observers listening to
people. One woman, the wife of famous informant Saed Shakoush, claimed in front
of the observers that Slaybeh had armed gangs while security protected
citizens. Another veiled woman claimed the same, and when the delegation left
she went inside a Syria State TV car and removed her veil. And when people
wanted to demonstrate one delegation member, believed to be Mr. Dabbi, asked
them to stop.
Despite heavy security
a protest managed to take place in Al-Raml today, while a night demo took place
twice in Slaybeh tonight, and the same happened in Bustan Al-Sidawi. A demo
took place in the village of Marj Khokha as the “spray man” filled the walls
with freedom writings. The night saw another demo in Mraij village in support
of Zabadani.
A regime march was
being prepared for near the municipality as the road was blockedamid heavy
security. The road leading to Ziraa round-about was also blocked by police near
Hourieh gas station, with heavy security at the round-about.
Two security cars were
in Owieneh searching all mobiles of people passing by, heavy security was also
seen in Qnainas and Ali Jammal areas.
Two other security
cars were positioned near Olabi Café, three near Batta Building, and one near
the park in Mashrou’ Al-Slaybeh. While a Hyundai car with plate no. 017044 was
roaming the city with security members dressed as civilians inside.
An old and big tank in
Demsarkho is being prepared to store large amounts of diesel, as the area was
already turned into weapon storage by an officer since the beginning of the revolution;
he also armed civilians who are regime loyalists. This diesel storing comes while
Homs has been deprived of the gas as well as other material like sugar and
rice.
At night Qnainas was raided
with more than 10 security cars fully armed, as they arrested a 16 year old in
his place, in addition to many other random arrests.
33 year-old Muhammad
Abdul-Ghani Haj Bakri, married and had kids, from Al-Raml, was arrested more
than two weeks ago and then moved to Damascus two days ago. Also, 33 year-old
Nabil Muhammad Ibo and 25 year-old Muhammad Ibo remain missing.
Below are videos of the day.
