Latakia on Tuesday 28/02/2012
Today as usual
students demonstrated, and schools making their way to the demos map were;
Shukri Hakim, Al-Baath, Banat Complex, Yusef Naddaf, and twice in Fine Arts
School.
Students also
protested in Shirqaq village, and in Haffeh as many from Wadie Taleb School
protested in the morning and then gathered with students from other school in
the square to continue their protests.
Other protests took
place in Al-Raml and in Al-Jarkas area in Jableh.
Today the Syrian
independence flag was raised in Tabiyat near Al-Rahman Mosque.
54 year-old army
member Khaled Ahmad Husien was reported dead under torture in Saidnaya prison
after 6 months of detention. And yesterday 23 year-old Anas Ahmad Hennawi died
as well; he was a fourth year English literature student from Qnainas.
Three students were
expelled from Pharmacy College today after having strong words with a
professor; they expressed their views about the regime rather strongly, and
were threatened of getting killed.
Seven soldiers
defected today from the Marine Forces in Latakia and were secured a safe exit
outside the city, yet Assad gangs raided Bsateen Al-Rihan in search of them.
Security was heavy
near the School Complex in Qnainas with 2 security cars in addition to barriers
members. A patrol inspected for national IDs near Olabi Café today. Raids and
random arrests were conducted between Dourine and Salma villages.
One of Latakia wealthy
men, also an activist in Tishreen sports club, got arrested on Thursday and was
immediately transferred to Damascus. He is Abdul-Qader Madhi.
Three were arrested
today after a raid on several buildings in Bustan Al-Sidawi. And Shaikh Mustafa
Hannouf from Jableh was transferred to a security branch in Latakia. And 10th
grade Raed Rammo was kidnapped in Tabiyat with no clue where he is at the moment,
while his brother was arrested by Assad gangs 50 days ago. On the other hand,
Muhammad Seidi was released in Jableh.
Al-Dounia TV
interviewed Assad soldiers who were dancing and cheering for their leader at
barriers in Al-Hirsh road and in Ugharit Square.
A fire broke in the
first floor of a building near Al-Nour Café; it was quickly controlled and only
one room was damaged with no injuries at all.
