Daily report from Latakia on Friday [He who prepared a fighter is a fighter] 06/04/2012
The result of this Friday was 25 demo points which a considerable increase of late, and they spread as following: Latakia [Ashrafiyeh, BeirQdar, Bazaar, Mughrabi, Antakia, Rahman, Slaybe (twice), Hussein, Fattahi, Muhajireen, Mashrou' Al-Slaybeh, Oweineh, Sharieh School, Al-Raml], Jableh [Samak Sq., AbuBakr Al-Siddiq, Jarkas, Mansoori, Shaweesh], Haffeh [ Janoobi Mosque, Jengheel, Babanna, Rahman, Isawiyeh].
And in Turkey in Kalles Camp the Syrian refugees demonstrated there as well.
At night a demo took place near Ajjan mosque in response to the news that Malek Tebseh, who’s been arrested since three days, died under torture.
In Umm Al-Tuyour village a 10-meter revolution flag was raised, and in Kirt village near Salma the flag was raised too and anti-regime phrases were written on walls and when security asked the Imam Bakri Hamdo why the writings were not removed he answered that this was not his duty!
Since the break out of the revolution a year back Fridays have been special and the security response was usually as special; the security presence would start in all areas and would increase heavily as prayers time approaches as all mosques get surrounded, yet despite all that demos continue throwing caution to the wind.
And today was no exception as all areas and mosques were surrounded especially those that usually witness peaceful protests.
Brown Toyota cars full of armed members were roaming since the morning by the ruling party’s branch, as well as regime gangsters dressed as civilians harassing people on the streets as if they were marking their territory.
Army flight was noticed over the Latakia shores near Al-Raml area.
State TV filmed in Sheikh Daher before Ajjan Mosque while security was heavy behind the camera and around the mosque with a sniper on the nearby police station’s roof. Despite having very few people in Joud Mosque in Maisaloon Street it was surrounded as well.
Security was heavier than usual in Ugarit Square, and at Yaseen Mosque in Mashrou’ Al-Awqaf 4 snipers were seen topping a security building while 2 were on top of a building east of the mosque in addition to many members at the gate. That was just some of the security movements scored today.
Assad gangs were positioned in Al-Sijn area as a funeral for an old man from Bdaiwi family was taking place in fear of it turning into a protest.
Heavy security was noticed in villages of Ain-Ghazal, Qasatel, Marj Al-Zawiah, Kinsebba, and Ardh Al-Wati. Snipers were spotted on top of a building near the police station at Salma village entry.
Gunfire was heard in Slaybeh after security had raided and arrested many chasing after protesters. Much earlier ther was gunfire in Al-Raml as an explosion shook the area.
Many were arrested before Shariah Mosque by the army police after being beaten up; one was 25 year-old Waheed Khair. Raids and random arrested were committed in Al-Raml and were supervised by Hafiz Munzer Jameel Al-Assad.
Sheikh Salah Shalati, Imam of Fattahi Mosque in Slaybeh, was arrested and immediately released due to pressure from outraged people in the street; he was arrested in the first place for interfering and trying to get security to release both Muhammad Tetlo and Hussein Masri.
One of those arrested in Al-Sijn area today was 17 year-old Tareq Abdul-Ghani, and two were arrested at the Jouma barrier in Al-Raml. Random arrests also claimed both 20 year-old Hasan Nadeem Hlaiwa and 18 year-old Khalid Ahmad Talabeh.
Pharmacist Muhammad Moazen was released today.
After chasing a 23 year-old young man and beating him up before arresting him, he shouted for help and so the people in the area attacked the security members in their car who in return fired in the air.
