Daily report from
Latakia on Wednesday 21/12/2011
Strike was apparent in
the faculties of Business and Nursing, specially that most students in these
two are from Idleb and Daraa. Also in the university, security was heavy as a
pro-regime students’ party was taking place, while other students were
distributing strike brochures and anti regime writings. Also, a demo was
organized in the Literature Faculty, and was soon attacked by Assad thugs who
marched themselves in support of their regime. No one, however, had to face the
fate of an engineering student who got arrested yesterday.
Military training are
being conducted since three days on shores opposing Al-Raml Al-Janoobi involving
army ships and planes.
A student protest took
to the street out of Adnan Al-Maliki school heading to Sidawi, where a night
demo took place, as well as in Qnainas, and the later was met by security and
thugs.
In Al-Haffeh a student
demo called for freedom in front of the Baath party center, while people of
Bkas and Defil villages organized big demo during power cuts, and later a
bigger demo was formed in AlRweisah neighborhood in Al-Haffeh and covered most
of the town.
Explosions were many
today shaking Slaybeh near the Triumph Arch, MarTaqla near Ammar bakery, and in
Mashrou’ Al-Slaybeh near Maher Darweesh School.
Security presence and
raids swept Skantoori today as well as Al-Raml near the square and the
vegetable market, and parts of Mashrou’ Al-Slaybeh, and near Al-Mshati mosques
looking for activists.
Roads were blocked be
activists in Al-Daabool area using garbage cans, while municipality labor were
in panic and awaiting security to come to the place.
A house was raided in
Al-Raml today as a 10-year old was detained, and amid this frenzy of arresting
Muhammad Andron, Anas Saqqa, and Mustafa Shaherli were taken away from their
homes last night in Antakia street near Havana Café, they’re 25, 21, and 20
years old. Also arrested was Muhammd Al-Turki, born on 1975, about 2 months

furniture shop owner in Al-Raml who got arrested 4 moths back.
Tonight at around 7:30

street near Blood Transfer Bank looking for activists without any success.
Girls of Moujamma
continue writing anti regime stuff on walls and stairs, as well as promoting
for the strike scheduled next week, and in Baath school girls burnt a picture
of Assad place be pro regime students.
In Al-Raml Camp
Khamees Hassan Hariri passed away under torture, his body is still in the
Military Hospital while his family is in great anger and sadness.
In an odd bit of news,
an informant in Slaybeh known as ‘Nano’ was arrested by security today.
Also, all military IDs
of soldiers in the city were replace with old dated security IDs.
According to a source close
to officials in Latakia: Election results were late due to the fact that all
those coming through are from one color of the spectrum except for one from the
Syrian National Party, this led to the governor thinking of repeating the
election, but according our source he received a call scolding him for such a
decision and asking him to do soothing else. He simply asked four of those passing
the elections to relinquish their positions to others. All that is indeed due to the very week
participation of citizens in the so called elections.
Below are videos documenting the day.
