Daily report from
Latakia on Saturday 24/12/2011
The day was relatively
quiet in the city… A warrior’s much needed rest on the road to freedom, or so
it seems!
Yet repression is
still on, as security was positioned heavily near Al-Rahman mosque, accompanied
by a fire truck and labor that were painting over freedom writings on the
mosque’s stairs, and they spread in Skantoori as well.
Security raided three
shops in Mashrou’ Al-Slaybeh and Ain Tamra this morning.
They had also raided
houses in Al-Najiah village last night.
Amjad Al-Obeidi, a
second year student at the medical college in Tishreen University, was arrested
today after raiding an apartment he rents in Slaybeh, he’s originally from
Daraa.
We’d like to announce
that Houssam Fadel Kadour, an engineer from Latakia, was kidnapped today in
Lebenon by Lebanese regime thugs, and was threatened to be turned in to the
Syrian authorities, but instead he was let go on the promise that he would
leave Lebanon, which he did after spending 6 hours in Beirut airport, Houssam
is an admin with us in Lattakia News.
Praising the Lord was
aloud tonight in most areas in the city.
