Daily report from
Latakia on Wednesday 28/12/2011
Many demos took place
in the city today, like the one held by students in Bustan Al-Sidawi, and the
one organized by students of Suleiman Hambo School. A third student protest
near Nursing School in Mashrou’ Al-Slaybeh was attacked by Assad security and
thugs where some students were beaten up.
A protest took place
in Al-Qalaa near Al-Mughrabi mosque and on the backs of which security arrested
nine people of whom we identified Muhammad Fattahi and his brother, arrests
were random, whereas people demonstrated again at night protesting the unjust
arrests. Four security cars were seen in Owieneh after the protest that took
place in the area.
A student demo took to
the streets out of Al-Shuhada School in Al-Izzi neighborhood calling for Homs.
Near town of Al-Haffeh
a huge demo was organized in villages of Babanna and Jengheel, which was
followed by heavy security presence. Two other protests took place; one in
Al-Najiah village, while the other in Zanquqa village as elementary students called
for Homs and other cities.
Last night a huge
explosion was heard in the whole city and believed to have been in Skantoori,
another one was in Mashrou’ Al-Slaybeh.
At night power was cut
in Al-Talaeh Camp in Al-Raml as many cars entered the area.
Today saw the release
of Amjad Al-Obeidi originally from Daraa, who’s a second year student in the
Medicine Faculty in Tishreen University, as he was earlier arrested in an
apartment he rented in Slaybeh.
In return many were
arrested today in Slaybeh of whom we could identify Qusai Janoodi who works in
a mobile shop, Osman Tizini and a cousin of him with the same name who were
arrested in a cheese shop, and the owner of Dalati restaurant, and they’re all between
25 to 30 years old. Security kept roaming Qnainas terrorizing citizens.
Muhammad Mustafa
Sabbagh, a 29 year-old from Latakia, died by his wounds in his tent yesterday,
as he had a bullet in the stomach and another in the head after being shot by
Assad thugs. This is related to news we reported yesterday from Ain Al-Baidha
near the Turkish border.
We’ve also received
the news of the death of activist Ahmad Derbaleh by security as he was fleeing
the Syrian-Turkish border, he was from Al-Graf in Latakia.
Below are videos documenting the report.
