Daily report from
Latakia on Monday 02/01/2012
Young ones in Masbah
Al-Shaab in Al-Raml demonstrated today against the regime and were soon dispersed
when thugs attacked them. Also, a big night demo took place in Qnainas calling
for freedom, whereas 5 security cars entered to disperse the crowds raiding the
area and looking for activists, while earlier security was roaming the area on
foot.
A big explosion was
heard in Al-Raml today too, as the area was later full of security randomly
arresting people.
Members of Assad army
and security were seen in Syria Street today near Tishreen Club gate stopping a
truck that carried gypsum. Two police cars were spotted near Adidas Shop, and
one army car near Al-Takhasusiah, as regime was attempting to disperse its
forces to seem as if the Arab League protocol was implied.
Security and thugs
were seen raiding a building in Ashrafiyeh near the big mosque as they arrested
many, while two Hyundai cars were moving soldiers along Al-Hirsh road. Two
other fully armed security cars were positioned near Al-Jamal Park.
One of the ways
adopted by security was lurking in building halls and allies waiting for people
to shout out for freedom from their apartments, which is happening normally as
power is being cut, to recognize them and arrest them later.
Regime continues to be
deceptive in preparation to meet with the Arab League observers expected in the
city as it gave all security members normal IDs instead of their special
security IDs.
In a leaked bit of
news from an employee in the Immigration Department; more that 150000 passports
were issued since the beginning of the revolution, many believed to have been for
pro-regime people, and passports were usually issued for complete families.
In Jableh:
Leaked news report of
regime attempts to fool the Arab observers by placing a sign that says “Abi
Bakr Al-Siddiq mosque” on a mosque in the industrial area. Also, grieved wives of
those who died were advised to tell the observers that armed gangs killed their
husbands and not the regime, some of them were replace by other women who would
impersonate their characters like the wife of Yaser Istanbulli, and wife of Abu
Haytham Harir and others.
