The most significant news could well be that 6:00 yesterday
afternoon four army boats left the military Port in Latakia and headed to the Republican
Palace in Burj Islam, and a helicopter was seen landing in the palace prior to
that between 4:00 and 5:00 pm. We’re not certain whether this had anything to
do with rumors of Assad being in Latakia.
Apart from that, Dweirkeh village was shelled last night using
rocket launchers and tanks based in Anbati village. Gunfire was heard aimed
from al-Qasab village at Kert and Saqiet al-Kert. A surveillance flight was
detected last night as well over Kinsebba area.
‘Al-Hijra Ela Allah’ battalion of the ‘Ahrar al-Sahel’ brigade
ambushed two Shabbiha cars yesterday on Rabiah road in Kurds Mountains killing
around 12 members and taking over their weapons.
A Lieutenant Colonel and soldiers defected last night after
clashes with Assad army on Latakia-Aleppo new highway. And in Jableh many
soldiers defected with their weapons near Shariyah School.
This morning Assad forces raided Kurds Mountains from
Mughiriah backed up by tanks and helicopters and much shelling from rocket
launchers. Tonight there was shelling using tanks in Marsad Nabateh on villages
of Salma and Dourine. 5 army cars with armed members were seen at al-Mzeiraa
exit heading to Latakia.
Smoke was heavy over villages of Kindeh, al-Najieh, and Terdine
due to fires in nearby forests caused by the shelling and Assad gangs. Similar
fires also broke in Wadi Shikhan after being shelled, and few houses were also
targeted in Ghnemiyeh village.
In Latakia Shabbiha surrounded a building in Antakia Street
closing off the area and then going in and arresting many citizens. Assad
forces also raided Jad’s Business Office in MarTaqla at noon arresting the
owner; 65 year-old Palestinian Fahim Diab. Similarly, security raided librarian
al-Haj Thuraya al-Hamwi’s house in Sheikh Daher this morning and arrested him.
Reinforcements of 4 army cars with more than 50 members were
seen near Shalaihat area in al-Raml. And 3 army cars were seen carrying
soldiers to al-Raml.
At night a demo took place out of Qallab Mosque in Bustan
al-Samkeh, and was followed by another in Mashrou’ al-Slaybeh, and a third in
Tabiyat. Last night a demo took place in al-Raml and was met with live ammunition
to disperse the protesters.
